Teaching Interests

I believe in creating an inclusive learning environment that is based on both student experience, interests, and skill levels. This style of adaptive instruction allows students to develop their own passion for learning and helps them to have a say in the material that is covered. I have taught students with a variety of different of backgrounds. When students are in control, or at least feel comfortable in the learning environment, they can thrive. I achieve this through classroom activities that allow students to discover fundamental relationships among things they have always seen but perhaps never understood (e.g., the relationship between gravity and fluid flow). This is best attained through exercises that allow students to understand why the world looks the way that it does.
